Tear Down - Preparing for Paint

Now that the Jeep is lifted, time to tear the body down and get it ready for painting!

We are going to paint it Sunset Orange. Jeep paint code PV6, here is an idea of the color. We will be painting it "outside" in the gravel so it won't come out nearly as nice!

More Lifted Pictures

Some additional pictures of the Jeep lifted. Time to move on to preparing to paint the Jeep.

It's Like Christmas!

I think we are keeping the UPS and Fedex guys employed here all by ourselves. The parts are arriving daily in preparation for the build as it progresses. Should be getting the two sets of rims and tires back from being mounted very soon.

Removal of the Suspension System

We are planning to install a Rubicon Express 4 1/2" suspension lift kit. The old suspension system needed removed. This will also allow us to thoroughly clean, prepare and paint the underside of the Jeep and to also prepare the axle housings.

New Floor, Fresh Gas Tank

Old floor removed, new floor installed. Original gas tank, cleaned, painted and re-installed.

Rebuilding the Transmission

When we bought the Jeep, we were aware it had a problem shifting in to 3rd gear. So one of our first detailed projects was to rebuild the transmission.
